July 2020 Art Camp | Information for Parents

Inspiration for Tuesday the 7th | Sculpting Day

Hello there from the Red River Valley Museum!

Thank you to all who signed up for our summer art camp! As of 7/2/2020 we still have a few seats available in our 5-7 and 8-9 year old age groups! Give us a call if you’d like to register your child before July 6th!

We’re so excited to offer your children a fun and educational opportunity during this unique summer.

Parents of Campers: Please read through ALL the information below so you and your child know what to expect in the coming two weeks.

CAMP DATES: Tuesday through Friday July 7-17th:
7/7, 7/8,  7/9, 7/10, 7/14, 7/15, 7/16, 7/17
  • Children ages 5-7 will attend camp 1:00-2:00 pm each day.

  • Children ages 8-9  will attend camp 2:15-3:15 pm each day.

  • Children ages 10-15 will attend camp 3:30-4:30 pm each day.

TUITION: If you have not already paid for your child’s camp you will be asked to on the first day they attend.  The cost is only $15 to cover their supplies. We accept check, cash, or card.

MASKS/SAFETY: As of today (7/2/2020) masks are not required inside the museum. We will be following state recommendations and orders to keep your children and our staff safe. Masks, hand sanitizer, and sinks will be readily accessible to all students and visitors.

DROP OFF: Please drop off your child at the Red River Valley Museum (4600 College Drive, Vernon, TX 76384). We will begin our lesson each day within the first five minutes of class time- timeliness is important so your child has enough time to finish their projects!  You are welcome to enter the building with your child.

PICK UP: Please pick up your child within 10 minutes after their class is over. If you will be later please let us know by giving us a call at 940-553-1848. Your child will not be bringing home any artwork until the last day they attend camp.

WHAT TO WEAR/BRING: We recommend you send your child in clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. We will be using clay, paints, and pastels that could stain clothes! You may send your child with a drink and snack if you would like but we ask that you remind them now is not the time to practice “sharing is caring.” If your child has a cell phone please remind them to silence their ringer and to leave it in their pocket or bag until class is over.

FRIDAY ART SHOW:  On the final day of camp, July 17th, each age group will be holding an art show for family and friends. Students will be displaying their art in our gallery (like professional artists!) and you are invited to come view their art along with their classmates. Feel free to invite others who want to see your child’s art- we only ask that you practice social distancing. We will set up each group’s show in the first 30 minutes of their class. You and guests are asked to come during the last half hour of your child’s camp.

SPECIAL NEEDS: If there are any special considerations that you feel we need to be aware of regarding your child (medications, allergies, behavioral problems, illnesses, etc.), please let us know when you drop off your child or call/email us at 940-553-1848 or [email protected].
