The Red River Valley Museum is the place for art, science, culture, and history in North Central Texas. We have three main galleries as well as a traveling art room used to host special events including our annual international juried art competition.

The museum foyer includes an introductory video as well as exhibits on famed musicians Roy Orbison and Jack Teagarden who have their roots in Vernon.

The newly redesigned Berry Gallery tells the history of our area through brand new, eye-catching exhibits showcasing the J. Henry and Ethel Ray Collection. This collection of fossils and artifacts helps tell the history of our area from millions of years ago through the arrival of the first Native Americans and later the first European settlers. Visitors will also learn the fascinating story of the Great Western Cattle Trail through stories told by Rick the Drover, an animatronic cowboy.

The Bond Gallery is home to over 135 game mounts representing the vast collection of big game hunter Bill Bond. Bond hunted all over the world from the frozen tundra of the Arctic Circle to the plains of Africa. This one of a kind collection includes lions, tigers, bears, and much more.

The Waggoner Gallery contains the history of the famed Waggoner Ranch, the largest in the United States under one fence. Visitors will also see the artwork of famed sculptress Electra Waggoner Biggs in a replica of her ranch studio. A mural by Adrian Martinez depicts the storied history of the ranch from its beginnings as a cattle ranch through the discovery of oil up to current day.
